Hermitage was founded in 1975 to demonstrate Sustainability, Creativity and Abundance -
through group living and sharing.
Six Trustees are responsible for this demonstration model
of sustainable living as an educational service to the greater whole.

We also have a number of permanent and semi permanent students
who work with us and learn from us these skills in a group living situation.

For more than 35 years we have been adding facets to this demonstration of a synthetic whole.
We are committed to the practical outer expression of the inner life.
Work is love in action - every day of our lives.
Also how this then flows on to the greater possibilities of the group.

These Hermitage businesses and the self sufficient farm and forestry are managed
by various group members and students under the Trustees.
From time to time as the need arises we also welcome working guests through the Wwoof scheme.
We have as part of our formal purpose an Educational Trust to teach students the skills of group living
and its vital connection to the land.

Most of all we hope that you will be interested in the deeper philosophical reasons for our success.
We hope that any contact with us, however small, will prove inspirational.
Together, we can change our World.

We learned firstly about group living from visiting and living at the world famous
Findhorn Foundation in northern Scotland and owe them a debt of gratitude.
Over time, as they themselves suggest, we have gone out into the world
and very much expanded on these basic principles in our demonstration of connection to the soil
and in our group businesses. We are in no way an ecovillage.

In common with many outstanding demonstrations of spirit,
our founding faith is based on Universal and Ageless teachings.
In particular that written and communicated to the world by the Master D.K.

What you are about to see now is not so much a website but more a lavishly illustrated on-line book
which has the capacity to be constantly updated. We have decided to create this web site
in response to the very many people we meet casually or through our retail outlets
who want to know more about us. What is more, it is free - we invite your feedback.

Although we do not claim copyright, we would ask that if you use this material in any way,
you acknowledge the Hermitage. Please take the care to avail yourself of this service.

Our interface with the public is primarily through
visiting our farmer's market stalls -
One in Eumundi on Saturday and one at Noosa on Sunday
.

We are very happy to give you personal attention and talk to you at these venues.
Just tell us who you are and what your interest is - this is an opportunity to share.

Please try to contact us through these at first because they are an important part of our basic philosophy of life

. Your next step would be to write us a letter introducing yourself through email.

We are very happy to write you a proper letter in reply.

Please avoid phoning us as it is inconvenient for us as a medium of communication most of the time.

We are always working in the various departments and therefore it is difficult to contact anyone individually.

We ask you sincerely and lovingly not to visit us on a casual basis as a visitor
unless you are especially invited as one of the personal friends of a trustee.

Students can leave to meet friends at any time by mutual arrangement.
