Hermitage story and pictures. Website

Hermitage was founded in 1975 by Philippa Schroder (now known as Philippa from the Hermitage)
to demonstrate Sustainability, Creativity and Abundance - through group living and sharing.
First and foremost the Hermitage is a Spiritual Community with nine Trustees.
For more than 30 years we have been adding facets to this synthetic whole.
We are committed to the practical outer expression of the inner life of each of us.
Work is love in action - every day of our lives.
And how this then flows on to the greater possibilities of the group.
We outreach to the World through our shops in Gympie and Eumundi,
our Farmer's Market food stalls and our own hand made fine furniture.
These Hermitage owned businesses are managed by Polly, Andrew and Cookie under the Trustees.
We also welcome visitors through the Wwoof scheme
and our free Live-in Guest Programme.
Most of all we hope that you will be interested in the deeper reasons for our success.
We hope that any contact with us, however small, will prove inspirational.
Together, we can change our World.
We learned firstly about group living from visiting and living at the world famous
Findhorn Foundation in northern Scotland and owe them a debt of gratitude.
Our founding faith owes much to the universal teachings of the Master D.K.

What you are about to see now is not so much a website but more a lavishly illustrated on-line book
which has the capacity to be constantly updated. We have decided to create this web site
in response to the very many people we meet casually or through our retail outlets
who want to know more about us. What is more, it is free - we invite your feedback.
Although we do not claim copyright, we would ask that if you use this material in any way,
you acknowledge the Hermitage. Please take the care to avail yourself of this service.
Remember that our interface with the public is primarily through
visiting our shop in Eumundi (Wednesday and Saturday) and our four farmer's market stalls -
one in Eumundi (Saturday and Wednesday) one at Noosa (Sunday) and Gympie ( Sunday ).
We are very happy to give you personal attention and talk to you at these venues.
Just tell us who you are and what your interest is - this is an opportunity to share.
To find out more we ask you to absorb the information from our website.
We are very happy to answer Emails for any further question you might have -
it is inconvenient for us to use the phone as a medium of communication.
You may also come and stay with us as members of the W.W.O.O.F. organisation
(willing workers on organic farms). You may contact them on www.wwoof.com.au
to become a member. This will also provide you with insurance.
We ask you sincerely and lovingly not to visit us on a casual basis as a day visitor
unless you are especially invited as one of our personal friends.
We regret, as yet, we are simply not set up for this.
